Don Vandergrift--former North Allegheny teacher, North Allegheny broadcaster, and lifelong North Allegheny sports fan--died this morning. Don underwent heart surgery last Monday to repair an aneurism; though the surgery went well, a number of complications ensued over the course of last week.

My contract with this internet provider expires on May 17th. I am hoping to move the site to another server with little or no interruption, but we'll have to see what develops. If we go away for a bit mid-May, we'll be back ASAP.

Here's what I heard from a reliable source: Brian Zimick was injured last year in a car accident, which apprently busted up his legs etc. pretty good. They believe it could have been a clot from those injuries that went to his heart and caused his death. He was still living in the Pittsburgh area.. Mt. Lebanon, I think.

To all - Brian Zimick was a very close friend of mine for over 30 years. He was my first friend when my family moved into the Wexford area - I was 7 years old when we met. We managed to stay in touch with each other over all these years even though we both traveled down many different paths in life. He was such an amazing person - words can't explain of what a true friend he really was to me. He will be deeply missed.
